Accident Care Unit and Transport Service

The formal functioning of the third branch office of ACTS (Accident Care Unit & Transport Service) located at Kechery, commenced on the 4^th April, 2002. Since then, the branch is actively involved in rendering services to the public with a firm commitment and sense of determination to uphold the declared objectives of the organization.

MEMBERSHIP:

ACTS Kechery branch has got a membership of 550 persons. This includes 93 life members and 457 ordinary members.

ACCIDENT CARE SERVICE:   

The major activity of ACTS is to rush to the spot of any reported case of accident and to transport the victims to the nearest hospital, free of cost, to ensure immediate medical attention and care. During the period under report, the volunteers of this branch attended to 450 road accidents and a hundred of other accidents. Thus, a total of about 600 persons received the timely services of ACTS. The volunteers took up the responsibility of blood donation also in a few  cases of emergency. 

OBJECTIVES
 

ACTS is primarily committed to take up the task of educating public, through activities, on their role and social responsibility in associating with the rescue operations of the victims of road accidents.  In this direction, ACTS is trying to organize a centralized set-up to join hands with various existing accident rescue agencies like the Police Force, Fire Force, Hospitals and other voluntary organizations. In this philanthropic, value based and pragmatic endeavour ACTS breaks all the psycho-cultural restraints of sectarian feelings like religion, caste, creed, social status, party politics and even nationality. 

MODES OPERAND:    

The Office of ACTS is agilely operational throughout the 24 hours on all days.  On receipt of the earliest reliable intimation on any accident, it is immediately transmitted to the Police Control Room, Fire force and the hospital located near to the spot of accident.  Instantly, the fully equipped and manned ambulance rushes to the spot. The victims are immediately attended with required First Aids and taken to the hospital.  The details are then recorded in the report book of ACTS.  The copies of accident report are provided to the hospital, the office of ACTS and the concerned Guardian Angel.  After presenting the suffering victims promptly to the hospital, Acts initiates attempts to inform the relatives of the affected persons, for further follow up. 

ADMINISTRATION:    

The president of this organization is the District Collector and the Vice President is the District Police Superintendent, by virtue of their official position.  Besides, the administration is controlled by an Executive Committee comprising of the General Secretary, Joint Secretaries, General Convenor, Joint Convenors, Treasurer and Committee Members.
