The Lions Club of Kechery was formed on 26^th February,1995 aiming for an all-round development of this area. In Kerala the first unit of Lions Club was formed 1959 in Kozhikode.

To get a membership in this club certain criteria are to be followed. He should be a gentleman in the society. The membership should be approved by the Lions Club general body meeting. Membership fee should be Rs. 5,000 and annual subscription Rs.2,000. The member should be financially sound and interested to impart services to the public. 

Ist July to 30th June is considered as a calendar year of  Lions Club. For the smooth functioning of the Lions Clubs, Kerala state has been divided into 5 districts.
